This survey aims to gather your views on the financial wellbeing of the UK economy and how you feel about your own situation. 

As a mutual organisation, we really value your feedback. Results for the survey will provide us with real-life data on how the economic situation is currently affecting you, and possibly your family, and how you think it might impact you in the future.

A summary of results from our Autumn 2025 survey

  • 4,276 members completed the survey.

Government policy outlook:

  • Almost three quarters of Family Building Society members expressed concerns about the level of government borrowing
  • 59% of members expected the November 2025 budget to have a negative impact
  • Just over a quarter said speculation around ISA and pension changes had already influenced their financial planning.

Housing & home ownership:

  • 55% of members said they expect house prices to remain stable over the following six months
  • Members strongly support measures to boost home ownership, including:
    - Abolishing stamp duty for downsizers (62%)
    - Developing brownfield sites first (53%)
    - Incentivising the conversion of unused office space into residential housing (47%).
