Mortgage charges

During the life of your mortgage with the Family Building Society there are some fees and charges which may be incurred.

This list below does not include standard initial charges associated with a mortgage (e.g. completion fees and/or early repayment charges) - these will be outlined in the specific product literature. Should an instance arise with a charge which is not included in this list, you will be advised in advance.

If we make any changes to our mortgage charges, we will let you know as part of your annual mortgage statement mailing.

Application Fees

The application fee includes £175 to process the application and a valuation fee.

The valuation fee is based on the greater of the purchase price or value of the property. The application fee is payable on application and is non-refundable.

  • For our Owner Occupier products we offer a free valuation for property values up to £500,000. For property values above £500,000 a discount of £330 applies.

  • For our Buy to Let products the valuation fee is payable.
